Black Seed | Saouda: Specialist of black seed (habba sawda)

Nigella is a herbaceous flower belonging to the ranunculus class.

We can mention its three main species:

  • Nigella Arvensis;
  • Nigella Damascena;
  • Nigella Sativa which virtues are very well known among the scientific community.

Nigella Sativa is around 30 to 60 centimetres in height.

The nigella flower is usually composed of clear-cut leaves.

It often has five petals which can be light blue or white with green strokes. These beautiful flowers grow wild all around Asia and the Middle East.

Nigella seeds are black, like the poppy ones.

They are lightly peppered and flavoured, and after they are crushed, they exhale a light aniseed scent.
